Dr. Carissa Gustafson has worked in a multitude of settings including an intimate partner and sexual violence center, a substance abuse center, and the Department of Mental Health as part of a crisis assessment team. She has experience at community counseling centers, an adolescent psychiatric hospital, and the VA.
In these settings, she has cultivated a well-rounded and sophisticated skill set with a multiculturally diverse and clinically complex population with a range of presenting problems from adjustment disorders, depression and anxiety to trauma-related and substance use disorders.
Dr. Gustafson gravitates to third-wave cognitive-behavioral therapies (CBT) such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), both of which emphasize an acceptance and mindfulness-based approach. She is available to work with adults of all ages.
